Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. This was a very natural quality for a woman from Irish origin, and that was surrounded during the beginning by gifted relatives and parents. Maureen joined this wonderful sanctuary within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita Lea. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and held shares of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed the wonderful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and played rough, athletic games when she was young. Her passion was coupled with the natural ability to perform. That was apparent when she was awarded each Feis for theatre and drama the Irish had to offer. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 She then was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theatre and singing.
