Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen did well at athletics and was fascinated by rough and athletic sporting events. This interest was combined with the natural ability to perform. She received almost every Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance that her country had to offer. At age 14 She was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her enthusiasm for classical theatre and operatic music was pursued. The course of her life was altered, however, when Charles Laughton, after seeing an audition for a film of Maureen, became mesmerized by her beautiful, captivating eyes. Before casting her to star as a character in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton along with his co-star, Erich Pommer, changed her name from Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" which is a shorter last name for the marquee. Maureen was contracted by Laughton to shoot her next film in America at RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre The Dame 1939). The film's epic nature was an extraordinary success and her contract was bought by Laughton from RKO. When she was 19, Maureen had already starred in two major motion pictures with Laughton.
